Antique French Miniature Empress Eugénie de Montijo France & Royal Crown 1855
For sale is a fine antique unsigned miniature of Empress Eugénie de Montijo (1826-1920), of France on paper pasted onto board, she is seated wearing a diamond tiara, with the famous royal Crown made for Empress Eugenie in 1855 by Gabriel Melonnier for the Exposition Universelle on a table, now in the Louvre, housed in an antique style gold frame with a paper label affixed to the reverse of Stratford Trevers Galleries. She was the last Empress consort of the French, from 1853 to 1871, as the wife of Napoleon III, Emperor of the French.
